Modern slavery is a crime and a violation of fundamental human rights. It takes various forms, including slavery, servitude, forced or compulsory labour, and human trafficking, all of which have in common the deprivation of a person’s liberty by another to exploit them for personal or commercial gain. 

Foundant + SmartSimple is committed to combatting slavery and human trafficking. This statement is made pursuant to section 54(1) of the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and constitutes our company’s slavery and human trafficking statement for the financial year ending 2025/26. 

Where we operate  

Our organization operates internationally, with team members and clients across Canada, the United States, and throughout the EMEA region. 

Our policies on Slavery and Human Trafficking 

We are committed to ensuring that modern slavery and human trafficking are not present in our supply chains or any part of our business. 

Considering the critical responsibilities to report on measures to ensure that all parts of our business and supply chain are slavery-free, we regularly review our workplace policies and procedures to assess their effectiveness in identifying and tackling modern slavery issues. Our workplace policies and procedures demonstrate our commitment to acting ethically and with integrity in all our business relationships and to implementing and enforcing effective systems and controls to ensure slavery and human trafficking is not taking place anywhere in our supply chains. 

Due diligence processes for Slavery and Human Trafficking  

As part of our initiative to identify and mitigate risk, we have in place systems to: 

  • Identify and assess potential risk areas in our supply chains
  • Monitor and mitigate risks related to modern slavery and human trafficking 
  • Protect whistleblowers

Culture & Leadership 

Our organization provides open & positive discussions in regular management & leadership meetings and communications to team members. Our organization’s policies are reviewed regularly to ensure adequacy and suitability. Managers and leadership show leadership on the importance of sharing diversity information.

Recruitment 

We review our recruitment practices regularly and continuously work to attract a diverse range of candidates through advertising, career fairs, college hiring, etc. Training on diversity & inclusion is incorporated into our new hire On-boarding Training and subsequently reviewed on a regular basis.  

Development & Progression  

Our organization uses clear and objective systems & criteria for assessing performance and promoting staff and provides tools for leadership and employees to measure and encourage development. 

Work/Life Balance 

Our organization follows a remote-first model and provides flexible work hours to support the diverse needs of all team members.
