Last week we were extremely saddened to learn of the death of one of our earliest and favorite customers, Greg Hind. The Hind Foundation was Foundant customer #15 and I still remember the cold call I made after discovering the foundation’s website in early 2007. Hind Foundation was just getting off the ground and Greg told me that he was frustrated because he wasn’t receiving enough grant applications – things definitely changed over the following years as word got out about the foundation’s work!
Many of you have heard me say that one of the major downsides of our success is that I don’t get to spend as much time working with and getting to know each of our clients. I was fortunate to get to work with Greg on a very regular basis since I was not only his sales rep but also helped him with his initial training and technical support. Over time Grant Elliott and others in our organization became the primary contacts for Greg and I missed our regular conversations about his many entrepreneurial endeavors, conservation projects, family, horses and his dog, Chloe. My last conversation with Greg was almost exactly a year ago when he called to check in during the Holiday Season. We caught up on many subjects but what I remember most is how I could feel his excitement over the phone as we talked about our success at Foundant. As witnessed by his commitment to philanthropy, Greg was truly committed to helping others succeed.
Selfishly, I’ll always regret never getting to meet Greg personally for a cup of coffee at Black Horse Espresso in San Luis Obispo but I’m very grateful that I was able to get to know Greg as much as I did. You can learn more about Greg at the following link: Greg Hind’s Legacy
Everyone at Foundant extends our condolences and best wishes to the Hind family for their loss.
