Meet Foundant’s Newest Client Services Intern, Sam Kern

Sam Kern, Client Services Intern

Sam Kern

I am currently a sophomore in computer science at Montana State University in Bozeman, and joined the Foundant team only three months ago. As a computer scientist, I love finding ways to make processes more efficient and effective. This is exactly what Foundant has done to the grantmaking process. I am lucky to have a job that allows me to actively problem solve, learn new skills, and help the clients of Foundant make a difference in the world.

When I’m not working at Foundant or going to school, I engage in a broad array of hobbies and activities. From a young age I have had a passion for filmmaking, and this past summer I traveled to Ecuador, where I spent a month making a short documentary about a working-class single mother and her struggle to support her children in the slums of Quito. Additionally, I am a photographer, soccer player, pianist, and singer. I have played roles in several musical theater productions, including Les Misérables and Hairspray. Raised in Montana, I love playing in the mountains. I am an avid mountain biker, skier, and hiker.
