I just returned from my fifth annual trip to the Grants Managers Network (GMN) Annual Conference, held this year in St. Petersburg, FL. As always, I had a great trip! The first three GMN conferences I attended were in Chicago, Denver and Seattle. While these are all great places to visit, I get really excited about heading south in March after our long, cold Montana winters. Chris Dahl and I arranged our schedules so we could fly down a little early to enjoy the sunshine before the conference. I’ve included a picture of Chris writing code for the next GLM upgrade while enjoying beautiful St. Pete Beach.
The GMN conference is one of my favorite events of the year, likely because the GMN membership generally has an attitude that is very similar to ours at Foundant. GMN members are often the hands-on, behind the scenes engines of their organizations and they appreciate practical solutions that make the granting process easier for everyone. We also like that GMN has been at the forefront of important initiatives such as Project Streamline and we appreciate their efforts to increase efficiency for grant makers as well as the nonprofit community.
Chris and I enjoyed re-connecting with many of our long-time clients and getting to meet many of our new clients for the first time. We were busy in our booth, hosted a great dine-around event and led a successful Users Group session where we were able to introduce some upcoming additions to GLM. We’re already looking forward to seeing all of our GMN-member clients at the 2014 conference in San Diego. We are also excited that GMN chose another warm state so that those of us from Montana can get a little break from winter.
