Daren and I spent three busy days in Chicago last week. We had great attendance for the first Chicago area Foundant GLM user group meeting, August 4th at Donors Forum:
- Aaron Spevacek, Strategic Philanthropy
- Cynthia Shirk, Shirk Family Foundation
- Diana Spencer, The William G. McGowan Charitable Fund
- Gloria Dillard, American Osteopathic Association
- Mike Doyle, University YMCA
- Jacqui Lara, The William G. McGowan Charitable Fund
Many thanks to Diana Spencer, Executive Director, The William G. McGowan Charitable Fund, for providing the welcome statement and opening introductions. And a big thank you to Donors Forum and their support team to set up the venue and the lunch arrangements.
After Daren gave a short update on what’s new at Foundant, he then demonstrated Foundant’s new reporting tool to smiles all around the room! The energy surrounding the new GLM reporting is fabulous!
The unique format for this user group included both Foundant clients and an equal number of Chicago area grantmakers in various stages of evaluating online grant management options. After the reporting tool demo, we split the room to better address the different info needs of the two groups. Daren worked with the Foundant clients to answer user questions, network, and brain-share. And I answered questions and/or demoed Grant Lifecycle Manager (GLM) for those individuals new to our online grant management solution. Would love to get feedback from Chicago meeting attendees regarding what they liked and what they’d like to see change for a future user group gathering, so please add your comments below in this blog post.
Additionally, on August 2nd a GIFTS user group in Chicago invited Foundant to present GLM as the group explores options for online grant management for their grantmaking operations. The “working lunch” time slot was a terrific way to provide a group of people an introduction to Foundant GLM.
While in Chicago we had a little fun, too. We took in a White Sox game and ate some amazing food! Other than the first full day of extreme heat and humidity, it was nearly perfect summer weather.
Back to Chicago October 24th!
We are excited to return to Chicago on Monday, October 24th for an all day, hands-on regional training session for Foundant GLM users. Click here to learn more and register. This training event will be held the day before the ASF (Association of Small Foundations) Fall Seminar.
